PSi Elephants Host Dutch Indoor Hockey Clinic in Oudtshoorn

The PSi Elephants Indoor Hockey recently hosted a well-attended Dutch hockey clinic at Langenhoven Gimnasium in Oudtshoorn on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 January.
The clinic was facilitated by SportWays and Princess Hockey and involved eight local qualified coaches, three technical directors, and one technical co-ordinator, ensuring a structured and professionally managed programme.
A total of 61 children between the ages of 11 and 18 took part in the clinic. Participants travelled from Knysna, Mossel Bay, Oudtshoorn, and surrounding areas, reflecting the broader regional interest and impact of the initiative.
Established in 2024, the Oudtshoorn Elephants Hockey Club has experienced significant growth within a short period. In its first year, the franchise successfully entered four teams into the PSI Nationals in Cape Town, with an additional team representing the Knysna Elephants.
The club continued its expansion in 2025, increasing to five teams from Oudtshoorn. Building on previous national success, the club plans to take U11 and U12 junior teams to the PSI Nationals at the beginning of July this year.
According to head coach De Willton Lombard, the clinic delivered positive outcomes.
“It was a very hot day, so we alternated activities by using the swimming pool, which the kids really enjoyed. We are also considering hosting clinics at night when it’s cooler. The feedback was extremely positive,” Lombard concluded.
Lombard further confirmed that the club will be hosting an upgraded indoor hockey coaches’ course in the near future.
